Supporting third-year students joining
the scientific community at Eberly.

Students accepted to the SDS program are matched with peer mentors and a transition adviser who will help them learn more about the resources and career options available to students pursuing a science or math degree. They will also participate in a one-credit fall semester seminar focused on academic and professional development, in addition to social and professional programming throughout the school year.

The SDS awards range from $2,000 - $4,000 per year at University Park. Eligibility is based on financial need and whether or not the student continues to make progress toward a science or math degree at ECoS.

SDS participants are highly encouraged to participate in our summer bridge program. This year’s one-week program will be held on the University Park campus from Sunday, May 14, 2023 to Sunday, May 20, 2023. The cost of housing, meals, instruction, and professional development opportunities are covered by the program. During this time you will:
- Meet other students, peer mentors, research faculty and academic advisers.
- Learn more about graduate programs, research opportunities, health professions, and other key incentives at Eberly.
- Learn more about finances and budgeting, housing and transportation, professional development, and career opportunities
- Attend fun social events.
Interested in engaging in short research opportunities, there's an option to extend your stay until Wednesday, May 24, 2023.

The SDS program is available to all students pursuing majors in the Eberly College of Science that are eligible to change location from another Penn State campus to University Park to complete a math or science degree.
For more information about the program and eligibility requirements, contact Dr. Adrianne Vasey, Science Dean's Scholarship (SDS) Program Director.
